For over a century, Flesher Marble & Tile 1910 has helped shape Calgary into the beautiful city it is today. With a hand in building the Burns Building and Calgary Courthouse, we have a tradition of helping shape the architecture of our city. Take a minute to read about some of our other well-known projects.
Chinook Centre – A complex project, this job was part restoration and part addition. The 2½-year project started with drawings and sampling and included a porcelain tile with a fossil imprint. A combination of porcelain tile, ceramic tile and slate made up over 300,000 pieces of tile in 41 different colours. We did all the concrete and floor preparations, supplied the tile and installed it. The clients were so satisfied with our work that we now are a house account and involved in the regular maintenance of Chinook Centre.
Fish Creek – This multi-purpose complex houses the Calgary Library, the Catholic high school board offices and the YMCA. The building includes 67,000 square feet of ceramic wall tile and 23,000 square feet of special mount mosaic tile that we installed. Tile was used extensively in the washrooms, water fountains, corridors, locker and shower rooms, stairs and pools. This project required us to use a special waterproofing and mortar system.
Fluor Building – This prestigious building houses the engineering staff for Fluor Daniel. Flesher was contracted to supply and install 13,000 square feet of green slate and 18,000 square feet of porcelain tile. The tile was used extensively in the washroom on floors and walls, the cafeteria and coffee stations. Slate on the building exterior was specially ordered and installed using a unique waterproofing membrane. Slate patterns throughout the sidewalks add to the architectural design of this project.
Acadia Pool – Featuring an Olympic-size pool with slides, rope swings and diving board made this a fun project for Flesher Marble & Tile 1910. We are proud to have helped bring this level of recreation to the citizens of Calgary.
